Beta guide

What to try, and what should happen

Use the MultiTool on your normal work - you don't have to do everything here. Whenever what happens doesn't match "Expect", that's exactly what we want to hear about.

Safety first. Only scan networks you're authorized to work on, and follow the site's IT rules. The MultiTool is gentle by design (see the network & security sheet - hand it to the site's IT team if they ask).

Install and activate

  1. Download the MultiTool from the download page and run it.Windows may say the publisher can't be verified (the program isn't code-signed yet): choose More info > Run anyway.
  2. Paste your beta key and choose Offline activation. Email the request it shows to support@justpeachytools.com.A reply with a license file comes back, usually within minutes.
  3. Save the license file, then License tab > Import License File and choose it.The License tab shows Full and the date the beta key ends.
  4. License tab > Check for updates. It says you have the latest version.

Network Scan

  1. On a controls network, scan the subnet your laptop is on.Every controller and PC that answers is listed with name, MAC and vendor, plus the free addresses you could use.
  2. Compare with what you know is on that network.Tell us about anything missing, wrong or surprisingly slow.

IP Check and Duplicates

  1. Check one controller's IP address.Ping, open ports and whether it answers BACnet.
  2. Run Duplicates on a network you suspect has an IP conflict.Conflicts are shown in purple with both MAC addresses.

Switch Port

  1. Plug into a switch port (wired) and press Listen; give it up to a minute.Switch name, port, VLAN, voice VLAN and PoE - if the switch sends CDP or LLDP.

BACnet

  1. Ask through the routers: find the BACnet devices on the network.Device instance, name, vendor and model for each device, including MS/TP devices behind routers.
  2. With a USB RS-485 adapter: listen to an MS/TP trunk.Stations, baud rate, token passing and errors on the trunk.
  3. Sites with BBMDs / WebCTRL: try discovery across subnets.Devices on the other subnets appear too.

Schedules and Vendor lookup

  1. Schedule a repeat scan (15 minutes or more apart) and leave it running for a while; try Stop.Scans run on time and Stop ends the current one.
  2. Look up a MAC address's manufacturer. The vendor name, even offline.

When something goes wrong

  1. License tab > Copy support info, then paste it into your email with what you did and what happened. It lists the version and Windows details only - no scan results, no network data.

Check-ins

At about 2 weeks and 6 weeks we'll email you a link to the feedback form. You can also use it any time.
